Our Courses

We are driving change by development of career certifications and micro-credentials. Our goal is to allow associates to rapidly develop in-demand skills and take them into the marketplace, with a turnaround of weeks rather than years. Our innovative approach of using Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as proofs of certification allows employers to quickly check a graduate’s certifications.

Unlike most post-secondary institutions, we do not require prior academic achievements or credentials. Our methods capitalise on individual life skills and ability.

With a growing list of industry-leading courses in fields like applied technology, cybersecurity and data analytics, our learners are able to develop life-altering skills and competencies, attain certification and answer the need of businesses for latest in-demand skills.

I had the best time in Sean and Skye’s class. I didn’t think we would be exposed to this much information in such a short period of time, but it was the best thing that happened to me. I learned so much and appreciate the instructors and classmates too.

My experience so far with ReTrain is a very positive one. The flow of the courses was well put together from basics of information and network security to relevant programming languages, and then to hands-on penetration testing and vulnerability assessments using multiple industry standard tools. We reviewed cybersecurity news daily to have a good understanding of current threat actors and their practices. Darren is very thorough and always willing to explain the penetration testing methodologies to us.

I enjoyed studying at ReTrain, where you can learn practical skills that can help you understand and become familiar with different areas. For me personally, the biggest challenge is that you need to understand and master a lot of content in a short period of time, which requires you to be able to think thoroughly and face the problems you encounter with a positive attitude, but also to know how to work as a team and brainstorm with your classmates to overcome the problems together.

I enjoyed studying at ReTrain. It is wonderful for learning and the atmosphere is good. I am pleased with the program coordinator and assistant; both are a great team. They both take their time paying attention to the student whenever we are having difficulties in our [studies] and they ensure the problems are resolved before going ahead with training. I will say the experience I got from this training will surely pave the way for me in the world of cybersecurity.

A highly relevant course delivered efficiently, with a good balance between the theory and practice of cybersecurity/penetration testing. The relatively short duration was adequately managed and is excellent for immigrants to achieve continuity in their professional lives and to settle down quicker in Canada. The course kept a good overview on current industry news. The external presenters and subject matter experts (internal and external) and the employer in-person engagement that was held on Nov. 17 all contributed to enrich the learning experience. The virtual format of this particular cohort and the class video/audio recordings are two great ideas! There is excellent support for employment (resume techniques, networking, volunteering advice etc.) and integration in the Canadian tech employment space.

I have found to be extremely informative. The hands-on approach is extremely helpful for those of us who are visual learners. To be able to work on procedures and review the class videos at my convenience, made the lightbulb go on, figuratively speaking. I feel this course is something that everyone should have. I like that the fact that the information is current and relevant to a wide range of subject matter and applicable to many jurisdictions. The instructor, Darren, is well-versed in the subjects as well as being an industry member. Information found in this course is very carefully researched and well communicated. Overall, I think it’s a good introduction to cybersecurity, pen testing, and open-source researching. I have learned a lot.

The last twelve weeks with ReTrain have been amazing, I totally enjoyed learning for Sean, Skye, and my course mates. I gained a lot of new knowledge and greatly improved my research, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Being a part of this penetration testing cohort gave me an opportunity to learn about penetration testing on Kali Linux, networking, bash, PowerShell scripting, etc. Each are highly sought-after skills in the cybersecurity industry as the rate of cyber-attacks are on the rise. The morning news was a great opportunity to learn about the current trends in the industry. I am excited about the future and look forward to a rewarding career in cybersecurity.

I must confess that at the beginning, I was sceptical about this course. But once we started this journey, I realized that it was very interesting, and the program was full of different topics and events. I was lucky to get some technical mentoring with Sean and Skye. They both are professionals and simply amazing and friendly people who know what they are talking about. The format and the learning environment are on the best level, I was able to learn more than I thought, and I gained a lot of information every single day I spent in the class. I am also grateful to ReTrain for organizing a meeting and presentation for students with leading companies and their representatives, where we had the opportunity to ask questions and receive important information directly from the representatives of the companies. I really appreciated the chance that I could have this experience with ReTrain.

To begin with, I was late to sign-up for this course and not even in my slightest of dreams did I think of what I would miss had I not been part of this cohort. At the very beginning, Mariam the program coordinator, had been so helpful throughout our process. With Natalie and Christine, we learned to be confident and how we could overcome the difficulties we all were going through. Then came Sean and Skye, we wouldn’t have got anything or anybody better than these two cyber-geniuses. The course was so systematically laid out week-by-week and how easily Sean helped us learn everything – it was commendable. I didn’t even think that I would one day learn to pen test using so many tools. In all, ReTrain gave us a package filled with positivity, confidence, learning new things, taking up the challenge, and to never give up – to shape our future in Canada.

Special Requirements

Timing & Scheduling

We believe in flexibility and can offer alternative timing, scheduling and frequency options for most of our courses. We often include associates with unique scheduling requirements or challenges in virtual classrooms with ReTrain Canada or other global partners.

Persons with Disabilities

As an equal opportunity service provider and as part of our corporate social responsibility mandate, we endeavour to accommodate persons with disabilities in our programmes.

If you have a confirmed disability or related issue, please engage your ReTrain career consultant for disability-related financial or other support, we may be able to offer directly or through our partners.

Financial Aid

We often offer part and full-scholarship programmes, funded by ourselves or various global partners. As expected, these programmes are highly competitive and as such may have higher entry requirements.

Visit the Upcoming Programmes section of our website frequently for details of scholarships or other free-to-market programmes.

Technology Equipment & Accessories

Information regarding technology equipment and specifications will be communicated with marketing and other pre-course material. Do ensure that you have the necessary computer equipment to participate in your course, so as to optimise your learner experience.

In the event that you do not have the required equipment, consider rental and lease options available on the market. Otherwise, speak to your ReTrain career consultant and seek support. Based on availability, we may be able to assist, in this regard.

Hardware requirements for virtual and online learning

4G (or higher) internet connection is a minimum required internet connection to give a sufficiently stable and quality connection.

Hardware requirements for basic courses
  • A Core i5 8GB RAM computer is standard and recommended. Considering peculiar affordability challenges, a Core i3 processor may be adequate. However, for companies sponsoring their staffs, it is recommended to provide the required standard recommended.
  • An audio output device (speaker or headphones) and a microphone is needed to participate.
  • A camera is advised but not required.

Associates usually receive credentials from ReTrain for the installation of Office365. Students would need to install Office 365 and Microsoft Teams software on their computer to be able to participate in courses. Other required software will be introduced by the mentors. Microsoft Teams is used for the remote classes and must be installed on all associates computers to access remote classrooms.

Hardware requirements for cybersecurity courses
  • A laptop or desktop computer would be needed; preferably laptop because of mobility and alternative battery power.
  • Laptop or desktop required specifications of not less than Core i5 Processor with 16GB RAM. This is the basic and standard requirement.
  • An audio output device (speakers or headphones) and a microphone is needed to participate.
  • A camera is advised but not required.
  • An extra monitor is advised but not required.

For Cybersecurity (Pentest Level 1 and 2), AR VR and Software Engineering students, it is advised to have an extra monitor due to technicalities of the courses.

ReTrain Canada is a founding partner of ReTrain Nigeria. All course materials are developed by ReTrain Canada (with input from our local team). All courses are hosted and delivered remotely by our mentor team from ReTrain Global’ s head office in Alberta, Canada.

We encourage you to engage with a ReTrain career consultant who will consider your background, knowledge, expectations and career goals to advise appropriately.

Literacy + good knowledge and command of English language is essential, as this is the language of instruction for all our courses. Prior tertiary qualifications are not mandatory. However, we advise that you study prerequisites and discuss any concerns with a ReTrain career consultant before signing up.

All our course timelines are crafted for market demand and specifically designed to accommodate student preferences (part-time or full-time, weekdays or weekends, time of day, etc.). Course durations range from 1 week to 12 months (depending on the course). We ask that you share your preferences with your ReTrain career consultant and indicate these on your application. This will enable us to design an appropriate timetable and place you in a suitable programme. Course duration estimates can be found in the Courses section.

We offer true value-for-money by utilising skilled and experienced mentors, market-related content, smaller class sizes to ensure meaningful engagement and work or internship programmes through our global partners. Costs depend on specific programmes and several factors including subject matter, student preferences, time, duration, etc.

Costs are advertised once a programme is confirmed. However, ReTrain career consultants are often in a position to provide estimates, prior to programme confirmation. We understand that affordability is often a concern in the peculiarly challenging environment of Nigeria. As such, we offer payment plans and periodically provide grants and scholarships. Please visit the Upcoming Courses section frequently or subscribe to our mailing list to stay informed about such opportunities.

For more information about specific costs of upcoming courses, please speak to your ReTrain career consultant.

Yes, but only to the next available running programme of your selected or revised course with similar schedule and timetable.

This is completely a preference issue, depending on individual circumstances. However, because our model and value chain of services includes a remote work component, we do tend to be biased towards encouraging and promoting remote work!

All our courses are led by a mentor/instructor, supported by a training assistant. Transmitted from Canada, they are also real time and interactive, as we believe that the engagement with mentors and fellow students provides immeasurable value and inherent future industry relationships/connections.

We pride ourselves on flexibility, as we review your timing and scheduling preferences and endeavour to place you into a suitably convenient class programme.

Presently, all sessions for the Nigerian market are online/virtual and transmitted from Canada. However, we are working on setting up a world-class and state-of-the-art training centre in Lagos. We surely will share information with our students and alumni, as we progress with this project.

Yes. Canadian employers are very big on “Canadian trained” and “Canadian work experience”. If you have attempted job searches in Canada, these are surely terms you frequently came across. This particular issue has been cause of frustration for many capable candidates. This was and remains a big factor in our affiliation with ReTrain Canada, Tesnas and other placement partners.

Our aim is to curate candidates and position them optimally for Canadian and other global work opportunities.

All our course content are specifically designed to be easily understood and retained by students, whilst ensuring we provide you with skills to maximise your potential. We continually use feedback from students, marketplace and industry to modify course content. We advise you to study course prerequisites and discuss any concerns with a ReTrain career consultant before signing up.

Depending on the course you complete, you will either receive an RTC.ReTrain Certified credential or an RmC.ReTrain Micro-credential. An RTC designation certifies that an individual has completed a body of training courses, studies, and examinations sufficient to demonstrate competency in the relevant field. RmCs are stepping stones towards other credentials, employment roles, or other academic pursuits such as professional accreditations, post-secondary or post-tertiary studies.

With key partners (ReTrain Canada and Tesnas) + other global partners (corporations, recruitment agencies, government agencies, non-government organisations), we start work on finding you work opportunities once you register in a programme, with the aim to place you in a suitable job as soon as you graduate.

We have and continue to do this very successfully. We take this very seriously, as this is key to our established credibility and reputation. All our programmes are designed based on skills presently in high market demand, particularly in Canada but also globally. A significant proportion of fees received are allocated to placement related services.

We urge you to beware of unscrupulous organisations advertising job guarantees. The decision to employ you is ultimately up to an employer and not a 3rd party. Employers base your employment on your technical knowledge, soft skills, remuneration requirements and interview performance. No 3rd party agency is in a position to guarantee you a job on behalf of an employer.
