This course focuses on the back end of digital and cryptocurrency, providing a practical education on blockchain, wallet and encryption systems. The course focuses on demystifying the mechanics that underpin the generation and fundamentals of cryptocurrency, such as each type’s unique inflation (or lack thereof), how it hashes each currency unit and so on.

Course Description

Digital and cryptocurrencies are changing the face of finance forever. This course is designed to provide an in-depth introduction to cryptocurrencies, digital transactions and the mechanics of how digital transactions are made and secured. Students will explore fundamental mechanisms like wallets, blockchain ledgers, and mining.

In addition to currencies, students will also explore Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the history of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. Students will also have the opportunity to study current affairs regarding cryptocurrency, such as how tumblers work, crypto investment and the use of cryptocurrency in crime. Successful students will attain a ReTrain microcredential (RmC) in Crypto/Digital Currency Technologies, demonstrating their knowledge in the systems and technologies used to drive crypto and electronic currencies.
